Registration for the 2011-2012 school year (JK – grade 5) is now open.  If you are interested in registering your child please do so as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment.

In addition to the registration and parental agreement forms available in the registration section of this website, parents are asked to provide an updated copy of the child’s immunization records, a copy of the child’s birth certificate or passport, and a photograph of the child for identification purposes.

MAY 2010

By the grace of Allah (swt) and support from the community, the IIT Academy is nearing the end of its first school year.  IIT Academy follows the full Ontario Elementary School curriculum with the addition of Islamic Studies, Arabic, and French classes for all grades.  All educational resources used in the school are highly recommended and used by both private and public schools throughout Ontario.  All of the students at IIT Academy are progressing well in all of their classes and have had many opportunities throughout this year that will ensure their academic success.

Students have participated in two field trips this year.  In November, students visited the Toronto Zoo in order to observe a variety of animals from various parts of the world and to apply the knowledge they gained about living creatures and animal kingdoms as taught by the Ontario Elementary School curriculum for Science.

In January, students visited the Ontario Science Centre where they were given the opportunity to develop various skills, strategies, and habits of mind required for scientific inquiry through a variety of hands-on exhibits.

Students also participate in weekly nature walks to Neilson Park where they are able to explore, examine, and study the signs of spring in the environment and apply knowledge they have gained about the components that comprise a local community.  These walks take place every Thursday afternoon and will continue until the end of the school year.

During the month of May, students will also have the opportunity to learn about the lifecycle of bees and the process of pollination through a visit from the “Scientists in School” program.

It is with great pleasure and a deep sense of humility that I announce another milestone in the IIT’s history – the inaugural term of the IIT Academy, commencing September 8, 2009 with JK/SK and Gr. 1/2 classes.

Our vision is to produce students who are fully conscious of their accountability to God, confident in their identity as Muslims, and ready to fulfill their obligations as citizens of Canada.

I am confident that with the help of Allah and the support of parents, teachers, scholars and the community at large, we will be able to achieve this vision.

I invite you to participate in this endeavour and help us to establish a world-class institution for our children.
